Mwanza City and Arendal Municipality/Aust-Agder County have established an twinning cooperation in a wide range of areas, that includes health-, education- and waste services and collection and management public revenues (finance).
The overall strategic goal of the projects are for good governance processes to be included in municipal governance and municipal services as part of the global fight for poverty reduction and sustainable development in line with the Millennium Development Goals.
There is a strong link between the MIC-projects and the CDM project that go both ways. The intention of the waste project is to improve the system for collection and handling of waste that would increase the revenues of the CDM. The revenues of the CDM-project will subsequnetly be invested in better health- and educationservice. The principles used in the finance proejcts will also be used in the management of the CDM-revenues. Tor Arne Johnsen, former project coordinator
